The FYR Macedonian entrant Jana Burčeska met also with the press of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017.
About her entry Dance alone, she said:
It’s a very energetic but also a sad song, not in a way that makes you cry but in a way that makes you think. It reminds us of how all of us tend to dance alone but at the same time seek for someone to dance with.
About her decision to participate and produce a strong entry for Eurovision, she stated that the long non-qualification to the Grand Final period for her country, was also a motivation.
Jana is alone on stage but accompanied by five hidden backing singers. The backdrop features a city at night with shots of the videoclip’s young Jana in windows.
The vocals are not exactly as the studio version but they are pretty fine keeping in mind that it’s a live version. Vocal effects are in use. The camera work needs a lot of improvement but it’s something that can be sorted out: too many long shots give it the same Mei Finegold effect of getting lost on a big big stage.
Currently it stands as a borderline rehearsal and has equal chances of qualifying as well as of not qualifying. Being inexperienced with such kind of performances is definitely a minus.
