Omar Naber is next to enter his meet & greet session today and spoke of his previous experience in Ukraine back in 2005 when he also represented his nation in Eurovision:
I decided to give it another try after not qualifying to the final in 2005. The biggest difference between Ukraine then and now is mostly myself – I’m more mature and back then I took it for granted that I’m going to Eurovision.
Speaking of his entry On my way and his Eurovision performance, Omar revealed:
It’s a very personal and intimate song and that’s why I’ll be alone on stage.
Omar speaks of how his entry for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest was in fact written 10 years ago before being submitted to the Slovenian national selection.
Omar’s performance is all about screens and it seems as if he’s in space, surrounded by a circle of half-transparent screens that goes up to the ceiling at the end (as if it was a Rising Star performance) with lots of lights in white and blue around.
On my way is a power ballad and as Omar is alone on stage the performance should be mainly focusing on his facial gestures which are pretty unclear right now. The vocal abilities were far from perfect during today’s rehearsal but as Omar is an experienced singer, we will probably see in improvement.
Slovenia might benefit from being the last ballad in the semifinal, but other countries might bring performances which are strong enough to qualify over it.
