Cyprus’s meet & greet session is underway with Hovig, who goes on to explain the choreography behind the nation’s performance:
This is our choreography that we have prepared. The reason we are balancing on the line is because all I’m asking is to be your gravity, the one who will balance you.
Hovig’s team continue that music is universal and they appreciate the work of Thomas G:son, who is also with the delegation in Kyiv, adding that a national final will be held next year:
Cyprus is a very small country and we don’t have a music industry. We try to give a space and time to Cypriot composers to write good entries to Eurovision so next year we are going to have a national final.
Cyprus is all about a great idea with bad execution: the leading theme is geometrical shapes and lines that Hovig follows on the floor. Soon two dancers join in and do lots of random stuff together. Towards the end Hovig lies on the floor inside of a storm in a Lazarev-much style (but without the need to climb on a wall)
His vocal abilities are great and the performance really got a potential to work out but so far it’s just a hot mess, mixing and getting confused with this over-complicated choreography. If they manage to get everything sorted for the upcoming rehearsals, Cyprus might have a good chance.
Be sure we’re going to see a lot of memes about this.
