Outfits:

Dihaj wears loose-fitting black trousers and a silky-looking cream top, giving her freedom of movement for her dramatic performance. She adds a long ivory silky cape/jacket to her outfit, which billows out behind her. This is the most modern and fashionable costume we have seen so far.

Dihaj is next to enter the meet & greet portion of today’s events at the IEC, who opened by speaking of her idea behind the staging of this year’s Azerbaijani entry:

The world on the stage is my inner world, the guy with the horse mask is the bad guy that I love and the mask represents the distance between us and when I step out of the box it means I’ve decided to end this relationship.

Dihaj continues:

I wasn’t into Eurovision before but now I am. We have an international team with Azerbaijani professionals.

With the previous countries trying to play it intimate, Azerbaijan goes for the big thing. Dihaj stands in a small room made of chalkboard with graffiti around, standing by a man with a horse mask on a ladder.

As the performance develops she draws and writes on the walls, effect that sounds well and nice during the live performance, and towards the end the backing singers open up the walls of the room and join her for the end.

The vocals weren’t perfect but the performance is attractive and the story being told well. The small room fits with a red-white-black big backdrop that reminds of a city at night.

Azerbaijan could see its best result since 2013 in this year’s contest with Dihaj.
