Lloyd Webber diagnosed with prostate cancer

Renowned music composer and author of some of the most successful musicals, as well as the British Eurovision entry for 2009, Andrew Lloyd Webber, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. His spokesman said in a statement that the condition was currently in its very early stages.

Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber has started undergoing treatment against cancer and "expects to be fully back at work before the end of the year", the statement says. Lloyd Webber is set to judge a talent show on the UK's public broadcaster BBC in the beginning of 2010.

Lloyd Webber is the author of some of the most renowned musicals, e.g. Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, Evita, Starlight Express, The Phantom of the Opera and its sequel Love Never Dies. Among other jobs on television, he is also responsible for the British 2009 Eurovision entry It's my time, sung by Jade Ewen, which brought a valuable 5th place for the country.
