EBU: Reference Group meeting today and tomorrow

The governing body of the Eurovision Song Contest is having its' first meeting today and tomorrow in next year's host city Oslo, Norway to discuss various aspects of the contest and its future development.

It's the first meeting of the group since the main event last May in Moscow ahead of the Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo in May 2010.

The Reference Group will hear of Yuri Aksyuta, the Executive Producer of Moscow 2009, deliver his final report on the event in Moscow this morning and discuss future developments of the show on the lessons learnt so far. Today, Friday, the Reference Group will also visit the Fornebu Arena scheduled for 12:00 CET to inspect and give their seal of approval on the premisies. The arena is the venue for next year's contest in 2010 and a press conference is due to take place and at 14:00 CET a special announcement is expected to be published.

On Saturday, the Reference Group will discuss the technicalities of the Eurovision Song Contest such as communications, public relations, new media, merchandise, the official CD and DVD.

The Reference Group is headed by Ruurd Bierman. Members are Svante Stockselius (Executive Supervisor of the contest on behalf of the EBU), Julian Vignoles (RTÉ), Christer Björkman (SVT), Federico Ilano (TVE), Sandra Šuša (Executive Producer of Belgrade 2008), Yuri Aksyuta (Executive Producer of Moscow 2009) and Jon Ola Sand (Executive Producer of Oslo 2010). The terms of Miša Molk (RTVSLO) and Kjell Ekholm (YLE) ended after Moscow 2009.
