Clare Thake Vassallo, chair person of PBS, the Maltese broadcaster responsible for selecting the country's entry in the Eurovision Song Contest has given out information regarding the national selection for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest. The national final will be connected with the new show L-Isfida.

L-Isfida is a popular talent search. The show is hosted by Claudette Pace, who represented Malta in the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm and finished 8th with her entry Desire. It is not the first time that a talent seach will be included in the Maltese national selection: in 2007, the show Opportunity 2 selected two entrants for the semi final. None of them made it to the final.

In 2009, Malta was represented by Chiara with the song What if we. She finished 6th in the first semi final and 22nd (4th last) in the final. It was the fourth low result in a row for Malta following a last place in the final in 2006 and eliminations after the semi finals in 2007 and 2008.
