Norweigan broadcaster, NRK, have began their process for selecting a song for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2010.

The national selection will be once again the format Melodi Grand Prix 2010 (MGP 2010). The same format which chose Alexander Rybak's "Fairytale" winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2009.

MGP 2010 will be earmarked for Norweigan composers. "Norwegian composers" means composers within the state or persons with a permanent address in Norway prior to 01st September 2009. It is also possible for the Norwegiansinger/songwriters to co-operate with foreign composers, but percentage wise the contribution from the foreign party should not exceed 50%.

The submission deadline for MGP 2010 is the 01st September 2009. All entries must be postmarked no later than 01st September 2009 or be acknowledged in the TV receptionat NRK Marienlyst by the same date. To participate one must fill out the registration form and send it along withtheir contribution. Entries without a registration form with a valid signature will be discarded.

NRK will only accept contributions that are delivered on audio CD. It is not possible to submit contributions on MP3. The CD disc isto be labeled with the title and composer(s).

Songs longer than 3 minutes cannot move forward in the competition. However, demos that have a longer duration will be accepted, but must cut down to 3 minutes if they are to progress any further in the selection process.

All contributions must be 100% original material. No contributions entered can be made public withoutthe permission of NRK. This includes disclosure to the public live or recorded, publishing on the internet, published as phonograph records or performed in other public forums, and includes both text and melody, together or separately.

All participating artists must be at least 16 yearsof age on the 25thMay 2010.

In addition to the open submission, NRK can invite composers and artists to participate in MGP 2010. All contributions that areselected to compete in MGP 2010 will be released onCD under the auspices of Universal Music. All artists participating are included in a separate contract with Universal Music for this purpose.

NRK'sjury will make its choice during September/October 2009, and all who have submitted contributions will be notified as soon as decisions are taken.
