Malta has selected their act for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest! Claudia Faniello will fly to Kyiv this coming May and will represent the Mediterranean island with the song Breathlessly.
The Maltese national final for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest, MESC, took place this evening live from the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre in Ta’Qali.
Hosted by Daniel Azzopardi and Charlene Mercieca, this evening saw a total of 16 acts performing in MESC 2017 for the right to represent their nation at Eurovision 2017 in Kyiv this coming May.
With changes being made to the selection process for Malta, this year’s representative was determined 100% by a public televote, with the jury vote being eliminated from the competition.
Following the closure and the counting of the final votes, Azzopardi and Mercieca revealed the top 3 acts of the evening which were the most-voted entries of the evening; Kevin Borg finished in 3rd place whilst Janice Mangion was 2nd.
It was a close contest, however it’s Claudia Faniello who received the highest number of votes on the evening and will go on to represent Malta at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Breathlessly. Listen to the 2017 Maltese entry here!
