Lou, Beatbetrieb and Die Gerd Show passed through to the final selection of the German national final. In a next televoting round Lou has been selected as the German representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 with the song Let's get happy, written by Bernd Meinunger and composed by… Ralph Siegel.

602.000 votes were received in the first voting, another 367.000 for the final decision. Lou won with 38% of the votes. Beatbetrieb were runners-up with 31,6%, Die Gerd Show had 30,4%.

Marie N and Renars Kaupers were also present in the Ostseehalle in Kiel, where the event took place. Marie N performed her winning song I wanna and Renars Kaupers performed one of his recent hits.
