LIVE

The show has started and Martin Rausch enters the stage to the alrady customary rock version of Can't take my eyes off you.

1. Komajota 7 nocí

Current poll result: 5.1% (=8th)

The show opens with a pop/rock ballad. The vocals are strong and the performance is very authentic, but the song obviously lacks a catchy chorus and a memorable melody. Overall a rather dated entry that still very well received by the audience.

2. Katka KošcováPri sebe

Current poll result: 17.9% (1st)

Every Slovakian semi final seems to have its own classy ballad and this song obviously the one of the third heat. The singer performs the fragile ballad in a very emotianal well and with strong vocals. The dance performance in the background is a bit cheesy and maybe too typical for that kind of song and so are the ballads. The current SMS voting results show that it is not very likely that this song will go to the final, although the jury also have its say, of course.

3. Milan LieskovskýBliss

Current poll result: 15.4% (2nd)

An mainly instrumental tune with lalala lyrics. This could easily be a film tune for a romatic comedy and it is a song that might be more popular with the juries than with the televoters. The vocals are rather shaky, especially in the high notes. The audience is very enthusiastic about this song and it is likely that it will reach the national final.

4. Peter Bažík & Andrea SulovskáNebudem stát

Current poll result: 12.8% (=4th)

A rock ballad now, that sounds more like pop in the first verse performed by the female half of the duo. The vocals are rather strong and the song works on stage, but overall it might be a bit too old-fashioned (similar efforts came from some countries in the 1990s with minor success). The affection between the two lead singers seems very acted on stage.

5. Roman Galo GalvánekLáska z papiera

Current poll result: 2.6% (10th)

A blues/rock ballad now. The vocals are very strong and suit the song perfectly, although the singer might seem a bit too confident on stage. Generally, it is not sure if this style would work on the Eurovision Song Contest stage and the SMS voters are not very enthusiastic about is so far.

6. Ivana KovácováVšetko

Current poll result: 7.7% (=6th)

The Tango tune is one of the more unusual entries tonight. The flower theme in the background and the chaotic choreography do not seem to suit the music at all. The melody is catchy but obviously not outstanding enough to make up for the weak stage performance. Probably and unlikely qualifier tonight.

7. ENSUz je cas

Current poll result: 7.7% (=6th)

The first hard rock song tonight, and it is a very strong one. The vocals are flawless and the simple presentation if of course the best choice for the genre. If it will work with the SMS voters tonight?

8. Dáša ŠarkozyováKrídla

Current poll result: 12.8% (=3rd)

The next song is a ballad with a slight r'n'b feeling. The vocal performance is very strong and the singer presents the song in autentic way. However, the song might need a more catchy chorus to do well in the Eurovision Song Contest.

9. G-StrinxRytmus vášne

Current poll result: 12.8% (=3rd)

Once again lead singers with violins. The song is very hectic and a bit tuneless, an impression that might be caused by the shaky vocal performance. The audience is very enthuasiastic.

10. Robo OpatovskýPrší

Current poll result: 5.1% (=8th)

The show closes with a ballad. It is by far not among the most catchy entries tonight and the rather forgettable stage performance does not help either. The SMS votes are only rising slowly for this one.

Results:

Robo Opatovskýand Peter Bažík & Andrea Sulovská qualified through SMS voting. Komajotaare the jury choice.
