France Televisions has a last confirmed that Patricia Kaas will represent her country at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow this May. The story broken by esctoday.com in December has now been confirmed by both the singer and the national broadcaster. esctoday.com can also confirm that the song will be presented at a special show in Paris on Monday 9th February.
On Wednesday of this week, esctoday.com revealed that in a pre-recorded television show to be broadcast on February 8th, Patricia Kaas confirmed that she had accepted the chance to represent France in Moscow at the Eurovision Song Contest final on May 16th.
In a statement today, France Television has confirmed that Patricia Kaas will represent France at the Eurovision Song Contest. They have stated "We are very proud for the first time to have for France such a well known and talented singer. It is the first time that a very famous singer accepted the chance to do this for France like we have seen in some other countries such as Russia and Ukraine".
Head of the French delegation, Bruno Berberes told esctoday.com "I promised you a lovely surprise, it is a huge surprise. We will announce the song on 9th February in a specific showcase event in Paris. I can already say that for those that love traditional French music, they will be very happy".
The French song will be revealed at a special showcase event in Paris where Patricia Kaas will perform the song for the first time. Theshowcase eventwill be an exclusive evening for media and music industry insiders and will launch the French attempt to capture a sixth Eurovision Song Contest victory this year.
