UPD Spain: Alaska and Miguel Serrano to present Spanish galas

Spanish broadcaster RTVE confirmed moments ago that Alaska will be presenting the 4 special Eurovision galas scheduled by TVE in order to elect their Eurovision 2009 representative. Alaska, who is a well known figure on homesoil thanks to her music will be accompanied by Miguel Serrano on stage. The Eurovision 2009, El Retorno semi finals are scheduled to kick off on Saturday the 14th of February.

Alaska has enjoyed success on the Spanish musical scene since the early 1980's and is among Spain's most acclaimed artists. She will be presenting the Eurovision 2009, El Retorno semi finals and grand final along with Miguel Serrano. Miguel is a well known sports reporter on Spanish television, famous for his coverage during motorcycle races.

TVE, the Spanish national broadcaster is working hard in preparing the forthcoming Spanish Eurovision semi finals and grand final. A total of 30 artists will be competing during the 3 televised semi finals. The top 3 acts from each semi final will qualify directly to the final, hence 9 songs. The 10th song to qualify for the grand final will be chosen by the public at the Second Chance Contest, which will be held between the last semi final and the grand final. A total of 10 candidates will battle each another on the 7th of March, the provisional date of the Spanish Eurovision national final.

The Spanish semi finals are scheduled to be held on the 14th, 21st and 28th of February. We must remind you that these dates are provisional, as soon we get official comfirmation from TVE we will let you know. Stay tuned to TVE for the latest news on Spain.
