Deadline to apply for the Spanish Eurovision national selection Eurovisión 2009: El retorno has just closed. TVE will publish the list with all the candidates that comply with the rules and are, therefore, eligible to represent Spain in Moscow, this Friday and the voting will be open for a month.

Every user can cast a maximum of 20 votes per day (but only 5 votes at most for the same candidate) from this Friday until January 19th, when polls are expected to close. RTVE website reports to have received double of quality and quantity of songs than this year 2008. The entries that comply with TVE's regulations will be made public this Friday and all of them will be allocated into 10 categories, according to their music style: pop/rock, ballads, metal, electronic, latin, hip-hop/rap, Indie, flamenco/Spanish music, R&B and others. The hopefuls will also be sorted alphabetically, just like last year.

The right side of the RTVE website -the voting place- will contain a list with the top-rated acts, although the votes will not be counted automatically. This ranking will be updated several times a day. Five acts of each category will qualify (50 in total) and will be the lucky ones to fight for the ticket to Moscow through three semifinals and the grand final, to be held in February.

The voting process to choose the 5th member of the jury will open on Friday as well. The top ranked applicant by January 19th will have the opportunity to join the other 4 professionals that will play a decisive role in this year's Spanish national selection, Eurovisión 2009: El retorno.
