One extra semi final will be added to the usual selection method followed by MKTV to select FYR Macedonia's next representative in the Eurovision Song Contest.

According to partner site Eurovision-Croatia Skopje 2009 which featured one semi final and the final last year, will have two semis in 2009 on the 19 and 20 February. The final follows the next day. Sixteen songs will compete in each semi and half of them will qualify to the final. The winner among the sixteen finalists will be decided by a mixture of televote and jury vote. The submission of the songs opened on 26 November and will close on 25 December.
