The story published yesterday, brought by the German magazine Der Spiegel, about a possible financial debacle for LTV appeared not to be true. According to the magazine the city council of Riga was about to cancel their sponsorship for the Eurovision Song Contest, the Latvian broadcaster LTV denied this.

Ilona Berzina, spokesperson of LTV, reported to eurosong.be that “although the city of Riga might be in financial problems, it won't have any influence on the organisation of the Eurovision Song Contest”. She also said that the money from Riga is meant for promotional activities in Riga during the Eurovision week.

Money from Riga or not, the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 will come from Riga anyway. Goodbye rumour!
