Arguments between the neighbours in Latvian final

The Estonian band Soul Militia refused to take part in the Latvian final because of an argument with the Latvian singer Jay Stever (Janis Stibelis). Soul Militia was previously known as 2XL, which won Eurovision Song Contest together with Tanel Padar and Dave Benton in Copenhagen 2001.

Latvian singer Jay Stever did not agree with Soul Militia's version of the song, which they should have performed together.

According to Indrek Soom, one of the members of Soul Militia, Stever's and Soul Militia's style seemed to be similar in the beginning. “Unfortunately we have a different understanding of Eurovision Song Contest than Jay Stever. Our goal is to introduce our band in Latvia and it's not reasonable to do it with a music, which we don't actually make”, said Soom to SL Õhtuleht.

Soom said that Stever wants to conquer a large crowd with the simple discosong Maybe, which he has himself written. Soul Militia tried to put a little of its style into the song and that's the point where the argument started.

Jay said that he had a straight vision how a Eurovision song should sound like. Soul Militia didn't like that and therefore has he found new collaborators from Latvia.
