ESCToday in collaboration with the City of Stockholm will be bringing you a series of articles leading up to the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in order to showcase and introduce the 2016 Eurovision host city Stockholm to our readers. Today we will have a look one of the most wonderful attractions in the city, MAMMA MIA!THE PARTY.

Yes we are talking about none other than MAMMA MIA! THE PARTY. If you are a true ABBA and Eurovision fan you will love this experience. You can dine, wine, dance and enjoy MAMMA MIA! THE PARTY! with a great repertoire of ABBA’s internationally acclaimed hits.

Mind you I was flabbergasted when I arrived at Tyrol, the Greek tavern where MAMMA MIA! THE PARTY is held. The place will mesmerize you with its authentic Greek decor and look, you feel you are back in Greece when you enter the tavern. What else could I have asked for, Greek music, Greek food, a Greek tavern and going there with da BIG BOSS aka Michalis Vranis, who happens to be Greek! I guess by now everyone knows my passion for the land of the Gods aka Greece!

The restaurant’s theme and setting depict a tavern in the beautiful island of Skopelos. Mind you they have even got original Greek beer in the bar! A truly summery Greek island ambiance and atmosphere can be experienced at Tyrol.

The setting was elegant, classy and exquisite. I must say it was one of the best nights I had in Stockholm during my research trip to the Eurovision host city. Plus to top it all up we enjoyed a delicious Greek 3 course meal, amazing wine, ABBA’s music and great entertainment MAMMA MIA (the musical). We got to see some amazingly talented singers and artists enact and perform ABBA’s melodies.

Eventhough the show was in Swedish we had an amazing time as the songs were all sung in English. You could more or less guess the theme of the musical. No need to worry coz during Eurovision the show will be running in English!

The caste performed par excellence showcasing their vocal skills and musical talent. All in all it was quite an entertaining and funloving experience!

We got the chance to hear ABBA’s songs from yesteryear and new songs that have not seen the day of light, ie haven’t ever been published. Whilst you’re dining and wining you can enjoy ABBA’s music and watch the show, which is divided in 4 parts. At the end of the night all the guests are invited to dance Zorba together.

After dessert the tables in the centre are removed, as the silver disco balls descend and the disco lights are turned on. The tavern is suddenly transformed into a night club where you can boogie to ABBA’s greatest hits! Don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes!

OMG! What an evening! I was totally fascinated with the way the whole party was organized. The service was excellent with the waiters and waitresses doing their level best to attend the guests in the best possible way. The music and the ambiance were totally mindblowing! Mind you I wouldn’t mind another glass of Ouzo!

MAMMA MIA! was revived last January when former ABBA member Björn Ulvaeus officially presented MAMMA MIA! THE PARTY at Stockholm’s Tyrol, aptly located at the Gröna Lund Amusement Park. It’s just a stone throw’s away from the ABBA The Museum.

All 4 ABBA members were seen together after many years at the inauguration of MAMMA MIA! THE PARTY on 20 January 2016.
