Georgia: Song selection on 15 February

Today, the Georgian national broadcaster GPB has confirmed that the song that will represent Georgia at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest will be decided and revealed on the 15 February.

Last month, GPB announced that Nika Kocharov & Young Georgian Lolitaz would represent the nation at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest, revealing that the group’s song entry would be selected via a national final.

Submissions for songs were open from the 15 December to the 8 January where over 100 entries were submitted to the national broadcaster, which have since been shortlisted to 5 entries.

On the 3 February during the Communicator show on GPB’s First Channel, the five bidding entries will premiered to the public for the first time along with the video clips for each entry.

Hereafter from the 4 February to the 15 February, the public will be able to vote for their favourite entry with the public results then going on to be combined 50/50 with the jury votes. The combined results will be revealed on the 15 February during the Communicator show with the winning entry going on to represent Georgia at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.

Nika Kocharov & Young Georgian Lolitaz will compete for Georgia in the second semi-final on the 12 May where the group will be bidding for a place in the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest in the host city of Stockholm.

Last year, Nina Sublatti was selected to represent her country via a national final. With her song Warrior, Nina qualified from the first semi-final going on to receive a total of 51 points in the grand final, ending in 11th position.
