Marco Mengoni, the Italian representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013, has won best European act at the MTV EMA awards.
The Italian singer beat off competition from artists from across the continent, including Daniel Kajmakoski (FYR Macedonia 2015) and Lena (Germany 2010 & 2011).
This is his third award at the MTV EMAs after picking up the best European act in 2010 and the best Southern European act in 2013.
His win this evening makes him the first artist to win the award twice.
Marco Mengoni represented Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013.
Performing for one of the big six, Marco automatically gained a place in the grand final in Malmo and in the final he finished 7th with 126 points.
