Christer Björkman has 2 goals for next year’s Eurovision Song Contest, one of them is to organize the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest and the other one is to bring the Eurovision trophy to Sweden for the 7th time, thus equalling Ireland’s Eurovision record.

Sveriges Radio reports that Christer Björkman (Head of Delegation for Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest, executive producer of Melodifetivalen, producer of Eurovision Song Contest 2013,  Sweden 1992 Swedish representative) is all set to bring Sweden its 7th Eurovision victory next year when the country is scheduled to host the event.

Christer will be be also involved in the organization and production of the forthcoming 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.

Sweden has won the Eurovision 6 times and has defended all its victories by hosting the competition the following year.  The Scandinavian country is only 1 victory away from equalling Ireland’s current record of 7 victories at the Eurovision Song Contest.

In 2015 Måns Zelmerlöw represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest with his entry Heroes and gave Sweden its 6th Eurovision victory.

The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 10, 12 and 14 May at the Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.

  • I think Sweden will win again very soon. Their selection format (Melodifestivalen) has been proven very successful. I think all European countries should adopt a similar selection format. No internal selections. And all artists should have the right to participate whether they have a contract with a record label or they are independent.
