After a number of people contacted the NOS with questions about when the participants of the four preselections will be announced, the Dutch broadcaster stated that the participants will be announced at a press conference on January 16, two months and two weeks after the closing date for submitting songs.

Several Dutch artists already announced that they will participate in one of the four preselections. Sonny's Inc and Gordon told the press that they received a letter from the NOS which stated that they are selected. Dutch fans reacted disappointed on the decision to release the complete list of participants on January 16: “The selected participants already announce their participation in the press and we have to wait six more weeks until these words are confirmed”, one of them said to esctoday.com.

Earlier the NOS said that everybody who submitted a song will receive a letter which should state if a song is selected or not. Now, the NOS wrote on it's website that “all selected candidates will receive a letter”, which makes it unsure if the unselected submitters will receive a letter too.

The Dutch preselection finals will take place on February 1, 8, 15 and 22. The final, which will contain eight of the 32 songs, will take place on March 1 in the Ahoy venue in Rotterdam.
