Tonight, the Austrian national selection, Wer singt für Österreich?, kicked off with show number one. The show was broadcast via the Austrian national broadcaster ORF.
The sixteen artists took to the stage to perform their chosen songs to a special expert jury. The selected songs were a mixture of both original compositions and cover songs.
Once the artists had performed their entries, the expert panel went on to select six artists who would go on to participate in the upcoming shows on the national selection.

Next Friday, the six qualifiers will showcase their vocal talent to the public and jury. Voting will not take place until the Grand Final beings on the 13 March. You can read more about the Austrian national selection process here.
