In 2011 the show entitled The heart of Robin Hood had its premiere at the Royal Shakespeare Company in the United Kingdom.
It has been performed in places like Den Nationale Scene in Bergen, also in Boston in the USA and is now at a theatre in Uppsala, Sweden. Then it moves on to an American tour, including The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University where it will be performed on 29 March 2015.
The twist in the tale, as is described in the Uppsala Stadsteater website, is that the lead character is one who takes from the rich but does not give a penny to the poor. We are invited into the famous Sherwood Forest for an overwhelming adventure filled with grand love, impressive battles, peerless flights, and catchy music.
The Eurovision connection is that the production, including this one with the Uppsala City Theatre, is from the acclaimed Icelandic theater company, Vesturport. The Directors are Gisli Örn Gardarsson and Iceland’s own Selma Björnsdottir. You will remember Selma as the singer, born in 1974 (the year of Abba’s historic win), and who, at the age of 24, first represented her country in Israel with the song All out of luck, achieving a creditable second place.
As for many of her countryfolk, Selma has shown that she is not just a great singer but is multi talented.
