The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service, RÚV, has opened the submission period for their national selection, Söngvakeppnin 2015.
Iceland, the last Nordic country to call for songs, has opened the submission window from 26 September to 20 October when it closes at 11:59 (local time). Interested composers and lyricists must submit their bidding entry on RÚV website.
In an interesting move, the Icelandic Broadcaster will only receive electronic contributions and 50% of the selected entries will have a female member on their team. Composers and authors must have Icelandic citizenship or must be resident and domiciled in Iceland from September 1, 2014 and beyond the Eurovision Song Contest.
Each composer can submit up to two songs to the competition. Meanwhile, authors may be co/authors of more than two entries.
All songs must be in Icelandic but could be performed in a different language in the Söngvakeppnin final. The winning song could be translated and performed in a different language in Vienna next May.
A jury panel will listen to all the song and will choose a yet to define number of entries to compete in next year Söngvakeppnin to be held in February. The number of shows will be revealed due in course.
Iceland is yet to win the Eurovision Song Contest, but has been close achieving two second places, i1n 1999 and 2009. Last May Pollapönk finished 15th in Copenhagen with No Prejudice.
