Farid Mammadov has been selected to represent Azerbaijan  at the fortchoming Eurovision Song Contest in Malmoe next May. 

Farid Mammadov will have the honour of flying the Azerbaijani flag in Malmö with Hold me, a song written by Greek composer Dimitris Kontopoulos who also wrote Sakis Rouvas’ This is our night (Greece 2009) and penned by John Ballard and Ralph Charlie.

A total of 10 acts competed at tonight’s 2013 Azerbaijani national final, which was held at the Buta Palace in Baku Azerbaijan.

Leyla Aliyeva and Tural Asadov had the honour of hosting the 2013 Milli Secim Turu Final at the Buta Palace in Baku. Many Azerbaijani singers graced the occassion and peformed during the show: National Music Group in a remix with Boro-Boro song (Arash‘s song), Eldar Gasimov (Ell winner of ESC 2011), Tunzala Agayeva, Sabina Babayeva (Azerbaijan 2012) Chingiz Mustafayev.

Azerbaijan debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 and won the event on its 4th attempt in 2011 with Ell and Nikki’sRunning scared, thus bringing the contest to Baku in 2012.
