RTCG, the Montenegrin national broadcaster has announced today that Slavko Kalezić has been selected to represent Montenegro at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv next May.

Thus Montenegro is the 10th country to reveal its Eurovision act for Kyiv. Slavko Kalezić will fly the Montenegrin flag at the upcoming ESC 2017 in Kyiv. Slavko will represent Montenegro in Kyiv with Space, his entry has been composed by Momčila Zekovića.

Slavko is a well known and highly acclaimed actor in Montenegro, having great experience in the theatre world. He competed in the internationally talent show X Factor Adria. He released his debut album 2 years ago. He speaks fluent English, Spanish and French.

A special committee was responsible to deliberate the 2017 Montenegrin Eurovision act for Kyiv.

RTCG received  a total of 27 entries from 20 composers in their quest to represent Montenegro at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest. Slavko’s entry is yet to be released, RTCG plans to premiere it next year, the date is yet to be confirmed.

Montenegro opted for an internal selection in order to select its 2016 Eurovision act and entry. Highway were given the honour to fly the Montenegrin flag in Stockholm with their entry The real thing. Despite an amazing performance the all boy band failed to qualify to the Grand Final.

Montenegro debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 and is yet to win the competition. The country achieved its best result in the contest in 2015 with Knez, placing 13th in Grand Final in Vienna.

The 2017 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held at the IEC  in Kyiv on 9, 11 and 13 May.
