We met Linus Svenning during his last preparations for the second semifinal of Melodifestivalen 2015, the Swedish selection for Eurovision 2015. Last year, Linus finished 5th in the grand final with his song Bröder, and this time he will try his luck with Forever starts today, written by Aleena Gibson, Anton Malmberg Hård af Segerstad and Fredrik Kempe
Many Eurovision fans really liked the sound of Swedish in your song last year, and they wonder why did you decide to sing in English this time.
“I can express myself so much more when I sing in english, so I thought, ‘why the hell not?'”
Which place did you expect to get when you partcipated last year?
“I expected to go to the Andra Chansen, because I thought that Martin Stenmark would have more voters than me, but apparently he didn’t.”
Were you surprised with the result? Do you wish to do better this time?
“Yes, I was very surprised, and of course I want, but it’s still a hard competition so you can’t say too much”
What is the message of your song this year?
“The message of my song is to let things go and look straight.”
Do you aim to go to Eurovision, or the Melodifestivalen is good enough for you?
“Eurovision would be sick, of course! But it’s like three weeks to the final so anything can happen.”
Your look is very special and some may wonder why did you decide to have tattoos all over your body?
“I think it’s really nice. It took about 150 hours to covers my arms and my chest, my back is being planned now and it’s gonna take about 480 hours.”
The second semifinal of Melodifestivalen 2015 will be held today and will be broadcasted live at 20:00 CET from the Malmö Arena, where out of seven acts, two will qualify directly to the final and another two will go to the “second chance” round.
