Aikuinen
Kyynelten lahti
Songwriter and filmcritic Aikuinen, alter ego of Pekka Veikko Jarmo Eronen, was born in Helsinki in 1961 and lives in Porvoo, Finland. “Aikuinen” means “grown-up” or “adult person” in Finnish, and Pekka Eronen’s character is influenced by comical entertainers such as Harold Lloyd and Woody Allen. Aikuinen has been active for several years as a songwriter, and will now partake in the Finnish selection Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu as a solo-artist for the first time. Aikuinen writes all the lyrics to his songs, while the music is composed by his friend and colleague Arde. They released the song Partajaana, “Bearded Jaana”, about Aikuinens dog, in 2014. Musically, Aikuinen is influenced by groups such as Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk and Pet Shop Boys. Over the years, Aikuinen has workedwith many Finnish and Scandinavian artists and groups, including Indica, Tik Tak and Robin, and also Jani & Jetsetters, who partook in the 2007 Finnish preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest, Euroviisut. Aikuinen will sing the song Kyynelten lahti in Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu, composed by himself and Arde. The title of the song translates as The bay of tears, and speaks of the Finnish inclination towards melancholy and sorrow, which is at the same time a great inspiration.
