The singer has announced through her Facebook page that she must start a hiatus in her activities due to her persisting health problems. This news arrives shortly after the confirmation of the release of her compilation album, scheduled for 9 December. The album’s title is 20, the recapitulation of her 20 years in music that now have to be abruptly stopped.

It was already known that Pastora Soler had health problems that were thwarting her attempts to continue singing on the stages and working on her albums. Though her concerts and tours had to be put on hold in a number of occasions, Pastora always resumed what she knows best: singing.

Today, unfortunately, the Spanish representative in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest announced through her Facebook Official page that she had to take a break in her work due to recurring issues with her cervical vertebrae.

The website of the Spanish broadcaster RTVE published the news almost immediately, making also the point that Pastora had fainted during a concert in Sevilla in March, a situation that occurred again last Sunday in the Teatro Cervantes in Málaga during Soler’s concert, leading to the cancellation of the event, as the news agency EFE reported.

The singer’s announcement states the following:

I speak with a heart broken by pain, helplessness and with the angst I’ve felt, that I still feel and which I won’t forget in a long time… As I said last night, the respect for my public is the greatest thing I’ve learned in these twenty years. I’ve tried my best to overcome a stage fright which began on 8 March. I believed I had defeated it, but last night in Málaga, before an audience to whom I owe so much and in a land I feel as mine, my strength faltered again, impacting even my voice… I can only thank you for your love and comprehension and tell you that I don’t have the strength to go on any more. I should have made the decision of stopping my career for a while a few months ago, but my will to fight made me carry on. Today I announce my decision to quit my professional activities until I recover my self-confidence.

I am so deeply sorry.

Pastora Soler.

20 years of music

This message from the singer comes quite shortly after it was confirmed that the compilation album by Pastora Soler will be on sale on 9 December, as as we learned from the site vavel.com. Twenty years of a life in music recapitulated in 20, the title of the album.

Two versions of 20 had been confirmed: one is the collection of her best songs with duets (with artists like David Bisbal and many others) and the new track Con él, and a special edition that will contain 49 of her songs, the duets and many other songs never heard before. Besides, the special pack will include a DVD with all her videoclips, life performances and interviews.

The release of 20 has been clouded by the news of Pastora’s career halt.

The team of esctoday.com wishes for a fast and full recovery of Pastora, and hopes to have 20 more years of her songs and her stage performances.

Get well soon!
