RTS has announced details of Beosong, their national selection show which will take place in February 2015 and will determine Serbia’s representative at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest, to be held in Vienna in May.  Beosong 2015 will also contain a real opportunity for a new star to emerge.

The Beosong final will consist of three participants who will each perform a different song.  Each song will be written by the Serbian composer Vladimir Graić, the man behind Marija Šerifović’s Molitva, which won the Helsinki-staged 2007 Eurovision Song Contest.

Two of the three participants will be established performers.  The third participant will be a promising up-and-coming artist, and the selection process is already under way.

In the first phase of the selection process, interested candidates are asked to send their personal information and an interpretation of a local pop/rock song to the email address [email protected].  Applicants are required to be over the age of 16 years and citizens of the Republic of Serbia.  The closing date for applications is Monday 10 November 2014.

Auditions will then be held in the cities of Nis, Zajecar, Kragujevac, Uzice, Novi Sad and Belgrade, with days, dates and locations of each audition to be announced.

The winner of Beosong will be decided by public vote.

ESCtoday.com reported Serbia’s return to the Eurovision Song Contest on 26 September 2014.  Serbia has participated at Eurovision seven times, with Molitva being their best result, winning on the country’s debut in 2007.  Serbia was most recently represented by Moje 3 and Ljubav je svuda, which narrowly failed to make the Grand Final of the 2013 contest.  Watch two other famous Serbian entries below:
