Iceland: RÚV extend submission deadline

RÚV, the Icelandic national broadcaster, has extended the submission period for their 2015 national selection Söngvakeppnin.

Back on the 26 September, the Icelandic national broadcaster RÚV opened submissions for their 2015 national selection Söngvakeppnin. Composers were able to submit up to 2 songs each electronically via the RÚV Söngvakeppnin website.

Originally, song submissions were meant to conclude on Monday 20 October, however RÚV has since extended the submission period by one week. Therefore, composers now have until Monday 27 October at 11:59 (local time) to submit their entries. The rules and regulations can be found here via the RÚV Söngvakeppnin website.

This year, Pollapönk were selected via the national selection Söngvakeppnin to represent Iceland at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest. With their entry No prejudice, Iceland qualified to the grand final where they ended in 15th position.

Shortly after the conclusion of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, RÚV confirmed Iceland’s participation at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in the host city of Vienna, Austria. The 2015 contest is set to take place on the 19, 21 and 23 May at the host venue, the Wiener Stadthalle.
