The winner of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest will be on the stage of a famous cabaret.
Conchita Wurst seems to be growing a special rapport to the French capital city. This past summer we saw her image immortalized in the streets of the City of Light and her first steps on a catwalk during the Paris Haute Couture Week for Jean-Paul Gaultier.
In line with this relationship, Paris will host Conchita’s performances between 9 and 15 November at the Crazy Horse, one of the most popular Paris cabarets, which has been the scene of shows by such big names as Dita Von Tease. In an interview to Le Parisien, Wurst stated that she said yes immediately after hearing of the proposal: Paris is the capital of love and glamour: I have all I need here.
The Austrian artist gave a few details of what she plans to do at the Crazy Horse: Rise like a phoenix, of course, a new song, maybe a Tina Turner song, too, a dance routine by Blanca Li, choreographer for Jean-Paul Gaultier, who will design Conchita’s attire for the show at the Crazy…
Wurst sounds like she will feel more that comfortable at the Crazy Horse. She described it like a place that revolves around sensuality, love and arts, a place that goes with Paris. We can almost detach it from the idea of sexuality. The team here has grasped the idea that this is not about a man or a travesty who will dance at the Crazy: I am just a different type of woman.
The inception of Conchita Wurst was a topic of the interview, too; after trying long and short hair and different colors, the idea of a bearded woman prevailed over others. It’s like this that I feel at ease. In private, I am Tom Neuwirth. I love what I do as Conchita, but in the end of the day, I step into something else, like everyone else.
Questioned about her future and an album, Wurst indicated that she wanted to have a record completed before Christmas, but then the Crazy Horse contacted her. And, on top of that, Conchita will provide the voice to one character in the German-language version of the movie Penguins of Madagascar. Still, her fans can keep calm, as the singer stated that the album will come, it’s important. I proved already that I have a voice and I can sing. Now I need to proceed to an album.
Fashion, shows, movies, (hopefully) soon an album… Conchita is certainly Unstoppable.
Conchita Wurst won the 2104 Eurovision Song Contest for Austria with Rise like a phoenix.
