The hottest ticket in national finals season has today begun taking song submissions via the SVT official website to help them find their entry for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.

Melodifestivalen 2015 has begun seeking song submissions from now until September 16th which is the official close date.

Once all entries have been submitted then the internal SVT panel will match a shortlist of artists with the songs. Kalle Johansson is the first known Melodifestivalen 2015 contestant as he won Svensktoppen Nasta which guarantees a place in the Melodifestivalen heats. Kalle will now be partnered with a new song once the SVT panel makes its final deliberations. Johansson won Svensktoppen with the song Den dar dan a few weeks ago.

Some interesting facts for the 2015 competition include a requirement that 50% of 2015’s contribution comes from female songwriters. There are two other qualifying requirements for previously published songwriters and non published songwriters to submit entries as in previous years.
