Conchita Wurst, the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, will be performing in Ireland as part of the Dublin Pride Festival.

The festival starts in the Irish capital on June 20, with evens taking place throughout the week before it comes to a close on June 28.

Conchita, who won the contest this year with her entry Rise like a phoenix, will be performing at the festival on Saturday 27 June at the George, the venue for the festival.

Speaking to Eurovision Ireland, she said she was excited about being part of the celebrations,

I’m really looking forward to performing at The George and being part of the Dublin Pride Festival.

I want to spread my message of tolerance, acceptance and respect for people who are different – I know my Irish supporters will help me do just that.

Conchita’s win at the Eurovision Song Contest was Austria’s second win in the competition. Their only other win came when Udo Jurgens won in 1966 with his song Merci, chérie.

The host city, venue and date are yet to be decided for the 2015 edition but decisions on each are expected in the coming months.
