ORF General Director Alexander Wrabetz previously started that the host city and venue would be decided within months.

As for hosts, although Conchita herself put her name out to host the upcoming event next May, she came out third in the poll at 20.6% when respondents were asked who they think should present the shows. Television presenter Mirjam Weichselbraun was top at 32.3%, followed by TV and radio personality, and current commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest Andi Knoll at 22.2%. Peter Rapp and previous Eurovision participant Alf Poier round out the bottom of the poll with 10.5% and 3.9% respectively.

Overall, 69.2% of the Austrian’s surveyed were pleased that Conchita claimed the Eurovision victory for Austria – 78.4% of women, and 59.8% of men.

In a separate poll, Austrian magazine Profil asked 500 respondents if they would be comfortable having someone like Conchita as a neighbour. 71% said they wouldn’t mind, and 65% even said they would enjoy a drink with her. 41% said they felt that Conchita’s victory would improve the Austrian reputation on the world stage, while 46% agreed that the view on the LGBT community in Austria would change for the better as a result of her success. In a following question, out of the 500 respondents, only 42% said that gay people should be allowed to adopt children.
