Sweden: Charlotte Perrelli is Evita… again!

In the upcoming autumn the Göta Lejon theatre in Stockholm will present the musical Evita with Charlotte Perrelli, Swedish representative in ESC 1999 and 2008, as the main role.

In 2012, the musical was shown on the Malmö Opera and received warm comments from both Swedish and Danish press. On September 27 the premiere will take place in Stockholm with Ronny Danielsson as the director, who is also responsible the sucess of Jesus Christ Superstar with Ola Salo (Swedish representative 2007).

Evita is written by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, the writer of the 2009 United Kingdom Eurovision entry My time. It started its life in 1976 as a rock opera concept album but was later made into a musical in London’s West End. Madonna played the role of Evita in a film based on the musical in 1996.

Charlotte Perrelli has represented Sweden twice at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1999 when she won the event with Tusen och en natt and in 2008 wih Hero.
