SMRTV, the Sammarinese national broadcaster has confirmed to esctoday.com that the 2014 Sammarinese entry will be premiered in March.
Valentina Monetta will represent San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest for the 3rd consecutive year, having defended the country in 2012 and 2013. Valentina’s entry has been composed by Eurovision veteran Ralph Siegel. It is yet unclear if Valentina’s entry will be in English, Italian or bilingual. Valentina sang in English in 2012 and in Italian in 2013.
San Marino was the first country to announce its Eurovision representative for Copenhagen,hence announcing their candidate last June.
After the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo, Sweden the Director of SMRTV revealed his wish to invite Valentina Monetta once again to represent San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest.
A pre agreement was signed today at the SMRTV headquarters in San Marino by Valentina Monetta, Mr. Ralph Siegel (producer and composer), Mr. Fabrizzio Raggi ( artistic director) and Mr. Carlo Romeo ( Director of SMRTV). Mr. Alessandro Capicchioni ( Head of Delegation of San Marino for Eurovision) was also present during the signing of the accord.
San Marino debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 and is yet to win the event. The country has never qualified for the final. On the last 2 occasions San Marino was 14th and 11th in its semi-final. Will Valentina succeed in taking San Marino to the grand final in 2014?
San Marino and Valentina Monetta will compete at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest Semi-final 1 ( 2nd Half of the show) on 6 May.
