Antony Costa, who represented the United Kingdom at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest with his bandmates from Blue, has opened up about his past in an interview with irishmirror.ie and has revealed that a new little bundle of joy will be joining the Costa family in 2014.

Back in 2011, Blue took part in the Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf as a representative of the United Kingdom with their song I can. They ended in 11th place with a total of 100 points, just missing out on a top 10 placing. More recently the boys have been taking part in the ITV reality show The Big Reunion and earlier this month, they released their charity single I wish it could be Christmas everyday along with their fellow Big Reunion members in aid of Text Santa.

Blue- I can

During the filming of The Big Reunion, Antony Costa admitted that he was on the brink of bankruptcy following the band split back in 2005. He revealed that instead of investing his money in worthwhile projects, he would instead go out partying and spend thousands every other night buying drinks for people [he] thought were [his] friends. Just before the split, Antony recalled; I didn’t realise that just because I had all this money, it wasn’t all mine. I forgot about the taxman […] Instead [of buying some properties], I spent my money renting a mansion. I bought a £52,000 TV – I thought I was a footballer. Little did I know two years later my curtains would start falling down, there would be cracks in the wall and I couldn’t afford to get anyone to help me.

Antony then went on to reveal that shortly after the band split; the phone just stopped ringing. We were living the champagne lifestyle and it was a lot of fun. Then the invites to parties dried up, and the work. People I thought were my friends suddenly weren’t interested.

Not long after the band split, Antony competed in 2006 edition of Eurovision: Making Your Mind Up with the song It’s a beautiful thing. Although doing respectably well in the selection, the song eventually ended in 2nd place coming runner up to Daz Sampson‘s Teenage life.

It’s a beautiful thing

Since the band reformed in 2011, things are finally looking up for the pop singer. Earlier this month, Blue’s official Facebook page revealed; It is with great pleasure we are pleased to announce the engagement of Antony Costa and his beautiful girlfriend Rosanna. Not only that, but an announcement was made a few days ago revealing that Antony and his fiancé are expecting their first child together next year. His fiancé Rosanna stated that; this is my first child but I’ve never seen someone as excited about becoming a dad as Antony […] I don’t judge him on anything from his past, all I know is he’s my best friend and we’re moving forward with our lives together.
