RTVSLO, the Slovenian national broadcaster has confirmed to esctoday.com that Slovenia has applied for participation at the forthcoming 2014 Eurovision Song Contest. A final confirmation regarding the Slovenian participation is yet to decided by RTVSLO.

The Slovenian broadcaster has informed esctoday.com that the financial plan for television programmes in 2014 is yet to be approved by the RTVSLO board. Hence only if and when the RTVSLO’s board approves the financial plan, Slovenia will confirm its participation at next year’s event.

The deadline for countries to submit their applications to the EBU in order to participate at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest concluded today 22 November. Applicants have until December 15 to withdraw their application without a penalty. Thus the list of participating countries can still change. The official list of the 2014 Eurovision participating countries will be released by the EBU by early January.

34 countries have confirmed their participation at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest so far. We are still awaiting for Azerbaijan, Poland and Greece to make a decision regarding their participation next year.

In 2013 Hannah Mancini represented Slovenia at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest with her entry Straight into love.

Slovenia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993 and is yet to win the Eurovision Song Contest. The country’s best results at the contest have been in 1995 with Darja Svajger (7th) and in 2002 with Nusa Derenda (7th).
