Global superstar and winner of the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest, Céline Dion has spoken about her experience at the contest which was held in Dublin.

Last Saturday, Céline Dion made an appearance on The Johnathan Ross Show to promote her new album Loved me back to life. As well as asking about her life in America, Johnathan Ross also asked Céline about her Eurovision adventure in 1988.

Céline said that Eurovision was a strange adventure. She received a call when living in Montreal to be asked to go to Ireland to represent Switzerland. Céline did not get the reason why she was approached and believed that the Swiss public would not like an unknown Canadian singer to represent Switzerland. Céline’s husband bet on her to win which made her feel like a horse especially whilst on the Eurovision stage.

Céline Dion won the 1988 contest by 1 point with Ne partez pas son moi for Switzerland. Since then she has taken the world by storm with hits such as A new day has come and My heart will go on.

Céline’s new album Love me back to life is available to purchase now. You may listen to it below through Spotify.

Hello my name is Daniel Doyle. I am 19 years old and I live in Rushden, United Kingdom. My first Eurovision was in 2004 where I was given permission by my parents to stay up late to watch the contest. Since then I have been a hardcore fan. The first Eurovision I went to was in 2010 and I hope to go to more in the near future.
