DR, the Danish national broadcaster has announced on its official website that the city of Fredericia has withdrawn its bid to host the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest next May. Hence this leaves 3 cities in the race: Copenhagen, Horsens and Herning.

There will be no sequins, glamour, gloss, music and songs  in Fredericia next spring.

Fredericia’s Messe C Arena had sent an application to host the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest. If Fredericia would have won the bid, it would have brought the song contest to Jutland’s eastern Trekanten region for the very first time.

But the application has now been withdrawn- Lokalavisen Budstikken online newspaper has announced today fredericia.lokalavisen.dk

We got a sudden message from Danmarks Radio (DR) that the arrangement for the contest required a hall without pillars. And that requirement cannot be met in MesseC.  Hence after meeting together we  decided  that we would prefer to withdraw  our application- Mr John Pedersen, President of Trekanten Region Denmark told online newspaper Lokalavisen Budstikken.

Yet the race for the 2014 Eurovision Song  Contest is in full swing. Which city will get to host the Eurovision Song Contest next year? Will Copenhagen get to host the event for the 3rd time? Will Herning’s Jyske Boxen Arena welcome Europe next May? Will Horsens prison get the chance to welcome Europe and host the contest behind bars?

Stay tuned to esctoday.com for the latest information and news regarding the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest and the host city race.
