Belarus and the Eurovision Song Contest
The Belarussian broadcaster BT chose for the same selection method as in 2005. 15 participants took part in a national final on 10th February. The best three proceeded to an internal selection. A few weeks later, it was announced that Polina Smolova would represent Belarus at the 51st Eurovision Song Contest with Mum. Although the song appeared under several titles already, Mum is the official song title.
Polina Smolova
26-year old Polina Smolova started her musical carreer in several bands and took piano lessons. In 2004, she took part in the first ever Belarussian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest and came 8th. Last year, she was the runner-up behind Angelica Agurbash.
