Krista Siegfrids, the Finnish representative in the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest sends this personal greeting to her idol, Bonnie Tyler, now seen for the first time on esctoday.com.

Krista is hoping to meet the UK representative Bonnie Tyler in the Eurovision Song Contest final in Malmö, but she will first have to compete in the second semi-final in Malmö on 16 May.

While her Finnish rival seems to believe in the veteran Welsh singer, a previous Eurovision Song Contest winner Sandie Shaw does not seem to agree.

In today’s Metro free newspaper the 1967 Eurovision Song Contest winner says she does not think Bonnie has even got a slight chance of winning in May.

Of course not, she tells the paper. She’s got a terrible song and deserves much better. I don’t know why they do this – why don’t they let the public choose?

She seems to be more critical of the way the entry is chosen internally by the British Broadcasting Corporation BBC, rather than Bonnie herself.

She has a wonderful voice and is a fabulous person, but if people don’t get a say in selecting the song they will stop feeling involved, she continues.

Mind you, I was also chosen internally as the artist in 1967, but I think I was a popular choice, Sandie Shaw is quoted by Metro.

The composer of Bonnie Tyler’s Eurovision Song Contest entry Believe in me, Desmond Child tells meanwhile on a Welsh TV show, and as reported by Welsh website Thisissouthwales that Bonnie has a good chance to win the contest.

Desmond Child has written more than 70 singles (including Just like Jesse James, Living on a prayer, You give love a bad name) and sold more than 300 million albums.

He praises Bonnie Tyler for always coming to the studio well prepared, with the lyrics memorised.

Speaking of Believe in me, he says in the TV programme: I wanted to write a song that would uplift the world and I’m so thrilled that Bonnie sang it and that it got chosen to represent the UK in Eurovision.

It’s like a dream come true, I’m absolutely delighted.

Krista Siegfrids will perform Marry me as song number 5 in the second semi-final on 16 May in Malmö. Bonnie Tyler will sing her Believe in me as a direct qualifier in the grand final on 18 May.
