Symphonica in Rosso has revealed its headliner for the 8th edition and the 2013 Dutch hopeful, Anouk, is to take the stage on Wednesday 16 October 2013. The concert will take place in Arnhem, near Amsterdam in a venue that Anouk knows well, Gelredome, since she performed there on several occasions in the past. She also released a live album and DVD Live at Gelredome in 2008 which entered the Dutch charts at Number 1 and has reached platinum status.

Anouk revealed that headlining Symphonica in Rosso is the perfect opportunity to defend her forthcoming album called Sad singalong songs which is due for release on 17 May and will include her Eurovision entry Birds. Anouk said The request if I wanted to headline Symphonica in Rosso came exactly at the right time (…) I had finished recording my new album ‘Sad singalong songs’ and in order to perform these songs properly I want to do them with an orchestra.

Fans are expected to discover her new album live and hopefully older songs with a special orchestral treatment. Anouk has become popular with not only rock songs such as Nobody’s wife, Are you kidding me or Good God but also slow tempo songs like Lost, Michel or Sacrifice to name only a few. Anouk is familiar with interpreting her repertoire in a different light, indeed, in 2003 she released a live album called Update which includes some of her greatest hits performed acoustically.

Tickets are on sale this Saturday from 10.00 CET.

[UPDATE] As the first concert was sold out almost immediately, another concert has been added to 18 October and tickets for that are already on sale.

Symphonica in Rosso is an annual musical event that has been running since 2006 with different big name artists headlining each year.

Anouk will perform in the first semi-final on 14 May 2013 with the song Birds

I remember watching my first Eurovision Song Contest in 1988, aged 7. I have been a true fan since then.
