Bulgaria: Hosts and guests revealed for Sunday’s Song Selection Show

BNT, the Bulgarian national broadcaster has informed esctoday.com that the 2013 Bulgarian Eurovision Song Selection Show will be be hosted by Dragomir Draganov. FYR Macedonia’s 2013 Eurovision representatives Esma Redzepova and Vlatko Lozanovski will be attending the show as special guests along with the 2013 Swiss Eurovision representatives Heilsarmee.

The 2013 Bulgarian entry will be selected among 3 songs that will compete in a special televised show on 3 March at 20:45 on BNT. Dragomir Draganov will be hosting the show.

You can give your vote for the songs at the telephone numbers announced in advance by sending SMS – one for each song number. The five-member jury will be identical with the jury of the semi-finals and the finals of the international phase of the contest and is determined by the General Director of BNT in accordance with the international requirements of the rules and regulations.

The 2013 Bulgarian Eurovision entry will be selected via a 50/50 Jury- Televoting deliberation.

Vlatko Lozanovski – Lozano became popular after his participation in the TV show Mak Dzvezdi 2007-2008, where he was awarded third place, and in 2009 he achieved a 4th place at the Skopje Fair – the national selection of a song for Eurovison with the hit Near me, which went on to become the 3rd most listened songof the year in FYR Macedonia. Vlatko has won several awards at various song festivals: Festival of Skopje in 2010, Chanson by the Sea in Sevastopol, Ukraine. His songs Fly to you and This Love have enjoyed great success too. Lozano is also famous for his excellent interpretations of old Bulgarian folk songs, for which he has great appreciation and high regard.

Esma Redzepova ranks among the most famous folk music artists in FYR Macedonia. She is of Muslim, Jewish and Roma origin. She has been nominated twice for the Nobel Peace Prize for her humanitarian activity. She is considered to be one of the most successful women musicians in her genre. She shot to fame during the Communist regime in former Yugoslavia. Esma Redzepova has almost 600 records – two of which are platinum, as well as eight golden and eight silver ones. She is the author of almost 600 works, including 108 singles, 20 albums and 6 films.Together with her last husband, Stevo Teodosievski, she has adopted 49 boys. On November 4th, 2006 the Queen of Roma music, as she is known in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, was a guest artist in Sofia for the premiere of the film When the road bends: Tales of a Gipsy Caravan. On November 10th, 2009 Esma Redzepova held a recital-spectacle at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia.

The Swiss group Heilsarmee will be competing at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest under a new name and with a new image in order to fulfill the requirements for no political and ideological content in their performance. They will be flying the Swiss flag in Malmö with their entry You and me. Heilsarmee is a group consisting of 6 musicians- members of the international organization of the Evangelist Church- The Salvation Army : Michel Sterckx (47),Katharina Hauri (46), Jacob Christoph (31), Sarah Breiter (20), Jonas Gygax (22) and Emil Ramsauer (94). The youngest member of the group is Sarah who is about to turn 20, and the oldest is Emil, who is 94.

In a special video the 2013 Greek Eurovision representatives Koza Mostra and Agathonas Iakovidis will be greeting the 2013 Bulgarian Eurovision participants Elitsa and Stoyan, and wishing them good luck for Malmö.

Bulgaria will compete in the second semi-final of the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest on 16 May.
