Sylvie Mestres, better known as Nayah from her 1999 Eurovision participation representing France with Je veux donner ma voix, announced yesterday on her website the release of a brand new single entitled Je suis.

The track is a bossa nova cover of one of the main hits of Nicole Rieu, the 1975 French Eurovision representative. The song was officially presented during an interview with Nayah on France Bleu Roussillon and a snippet is available here

Recorded in Toulouse, the new song is the first single from Nayah’s forthcoming album also entitled Je suis and due for release later in March. The whole project had been delayed for several months due to the surgery the singer had to through to remove polyps on her vocal cords.

Thanks to the support of her fans, Nayah is finally releasing her new material. Fully recovered, she is now eager to promote on stage her new album which is described as being her most personal project, the opportunity she was waiting for to tell the world who she really is.

Since 1999, Nayah has moved on both with her professional career and her personal life. She has been successfully impersonating Canadian superstar and winner of the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest Céline Dion in a show in Las Vegas and on tour in Europe and France. She even won a special lookalikes edition of the popular cooking show Come dine with me, known as Un dîner presque parfait aired on France’s private channel M6, in 2010. The singer had generously given her prize money to charities she regularly supports.

Nayah also has a weekly show on France Bleu Roussillon radio named En attendant le TGV and will appear on French cable channel TF6 in a brand new reality TV programme titled Les sosies à Hollywood in which celebrity lookalikes will be observed in their daily lives in this very famous disctrict of Los Angeles. Some concert dates in France and Luxembourg have been announed and added to our event section for your information as well.

Snippets of Nayah’s new songs can be listened to on her official website from which you can order her new album. In the meantime, here is a reminder of her Eurovision entry.
