According to the website of the German newspaper Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung, WAZ, Stefan Raab, the godfather of German Eurovision in recent years, is not completely out of the picture in connection to the German national final. The paper has talked to the Entertainment Coordinator Thomas Schreiber of ARD, the joint organisation of the German public broadcasters, and ultimately responsible for the German participation at the Eurovision Song Contest. According to him Brainpool, who produced the last three German national finals as well as the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest, will again produce the 2013 national final. Brainpool was also the Official production partner for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Baku.
It has been previously revealed, that the co-operation with the commercial channel Pro Sieben, ARD and also Stefan Raab has been put on hold for 2013. Mr. Schreiber tells WAZ however, that both parties have left the door open. It may well happen that this co-operation will resume in coming years. But for 2013 we have plans for a great show, and the details will be revealed soon, Mr. Schreiber tells WAZ.
The article discusses further, how ARD has been performing badly in recent years, and one of the main reasons is said to be the entertainment offering. Now the broadcaster will scale back the entertainment and believes that “less is more”. The company is looking for a new formats, but wants to move away from the talent show formats, that they see as tired.
