LRT, the Lithuanian national broadcaster has exclusively revealed to Esctoday.com that the provisional date for the 2013 Lithuanian national final is Thursday 20 December. LRT has revealed to Esctoday.com further details on their national selection process.
The 1st preselection qualifying show of the 2013 Lithuanian national selection will kick next Saturday,3 November, where a total of 8 acts will compete for a place in the semifinals. LRT has informed Esctoday.com that between 8-10 acts will compete in each of the 5 preselection qualifying shows. A total of 3 acts will qualify from each show for the 2 semifinals. A total of 15 acts will qualify for the semifinals along with 2 wild card acts chosen by LRT. Hence 17 artists will be divided in the 2 semifinals. LRT also went on to mention that between 8-10 acts will battle for the golden ticket to Malmö in the grand finale which is provisionally scheduled to be held on 20 December.
LRT has received around 60 entries for their 2013 Eurovision national selection. The competing candidates were presented during the first 2 introduction shows on 20 and 27 October. A total of 10 shows (2 introduction shows, 5 preselection shows, 2 semi-finals and the grand final). An 11th show might be added to the list, a solo concert show of the winner. The shows will be held on Saturdays, whilst the grand final is provisionally scheduled to be held on a Thursday.
The Lithuanian national selection will be hosted by popular Lithuanian television host Andrius Rožickas. All the shows will be aired on LRT and will be streamed on the official website of LRT.

Lithuania debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 Ovidijus Visniauskas’ with Lopsine mylimaj and is yet to win the event. Lithuania’s best result at the Eurovision Song Contest is a 6th placing in 2006 with LT United’s We are the winners.
