esctoday.com is the most visited and longest running independent Eurovision Song Contest website. Thousands of fans of the contest have been coming for their Eurovision news to esctoday.com for over 12 years now. All the work for the website has always been done by volunteer reporters, who give their valuable time for the running of the website.
Now you could be joining the team. We are looking for new, motivated volunteer reporters and photographers as well as videographers and designers, and social media gurus.
You should have some or most of the following qualities:
- speak and write English fluently
- understand the use of internet and new technologies
- be good in interviewing on camera
- understand the potentials of social media
You might have noticed we did already look for volunteers last year, but as the website was hacked in May, right during the busiest time of the Eurovision year our main priority became to get the website back on track. So getting the volunteers in and training them was left for a later time.
Now we are back and about to re-launch www.esctoday.com to its rightful position as the leading independent Eurovision Song Contest website. And you could be part of it!
Are you motivated? Do you have initiative to find work and news items that might interest our readers? Can you take an unbiased and balanced point of view, without letting your own feelings affect your writing?
What we can offer:
- a motivational working environment, where your work will get a guaranteed audience
- a perfect chance to get practice in website journalism
- a chance to get to know better how things work around the biggest entertainment show on TV
- an established name within the community and a good addition to any CV
You could be:
a student, a song contest fan, someone looking for writing practice, or maybe you have been writing for another website or blog already?
We would expect you to have good skills in English, at least one other European language at mother tongue level, have basic computer skills and able to post your own articles to the website admin panel (it’s WordPress). Knowledge of photo and video editing is also a plus. You should be able to show initiative in finding information in your local media, write articles and contact artists and their representatives for information, interviews etc. Also, if you are happy to interview on camera we want to talk to you!
You should be happy to work in a team and to follow common guidelines.
For all of us the Eurofans, the Eurovision season lasts all year round, we would expect our volunteers to have some input all through the year. Successful editors who have shown initiative will eventually have the opportunity to join the team and granted accreditation in order to report live from the contest.
We are planning to reorganise our team of reporters by language and geographical areas. This means we are looking for volunteers who can in first instance cover the news from their own area, and in neighbouring countries where understanding the local languages can be easy.
Interested? Please send a short description of yourself, listing your education and relevant experience via the form below. Also state what languages you understand and what countries would you want to cover on esctoday.com
Come join our team!
